James Berta joined the Berkeley Endowment Management Company in 2017 as an Investment Associate. Prior to joining BEMCO, Berta was an investment banking analyst in the Financial Institutions Group at Wells Fargo Securities. He earned his B.B.A. in Finance from Michigan State University.
Ashley Beuchel joined the Berkeley Endowment Management Company in 2016 as an Investment Associate. Prior to joining BEMCO, Beuchel was an investment banking analyst in the Consumer & Retail Group at William Blair, and prior to that was an investment banking analyst at BB&T Capital Markets. She earned her B.B.A. in Finance from The College of William & Mary.
Nikita Doshi Gujral
Nikita Gujral joined the Berkeley Endowment Management Company in 2014 as a Director of Investments. Prior to joining BEMCO, Gujral was Vice President at Gore Creek Asset Management, where she focused on investments across both public and private markets and also previously worked at the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, where she focused on real asset and private equity strategies. She also spent time at the start-up not-for-profit organization 9/11 United Services Group, which helped coordinate and manage the social services system in New York that was providing assistance to those affected by 9/11. She started her career in Investment Banking at Morgan Stanley where she worked in Technology Mergers & Acquisitions. Gujral received a B.B.A. from the University of Michigan Business School and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Catherine Nguyen joined the Berkeley Endowment Management Company in 2017 as an Associate Director of Operations. Prior to joining BEMCO, Nguyen spent four years at Top Tier Capital Partners, LLC, a venture capital focused fund of funds, where she most recently served as Fund Controller. Previously, she was a Senior Associate in KPMG LLP’s audit practice, working primarily in commercial banking. Nguyen earned a B.A. in Business Economics with an Accounting Emphasis from the University of California Santa Barbara. She is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) and has passed all three levels of the CFA Program.
Josh Piuma joined the Berkeley Endowment Management Company in 2010. Prior to joining BEMCO, Piuma was most recently a Vice President at ValueAct Capital, a long-only concentrated investment partnership, and previously worked at Jupiter Partners, a middle market private equity firm. He began his career as an investment banking analyst at Merrill Lynch. Piuma earned a B.A. in Economics from Georgetown University and an M.B.A from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He has also earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Angela Tripido joined the Berkeley Endowment Management Company in 2016 as an Executive Assistant. Prior to joining BEMCO, Tripido worked in the finance department at TMX Finance LLC where she managed all communications for investor relations and coordinated initiatives for the Board of Directors. Previously, Tripido served as an administrative assistant and project coordinator with both a global engineering firm and a start-up healthcare company, where she supported the corporate insurance program in its entirety and worked closely with the HR departments on all matters from onboarding to supplemental benefits. She began her career as an Elementary Education teacher and earned a B.A. in Education from Rowan University.
Nicholas Werner is currently the Interim President and Chief Investment Officer for the Berkeley Endowment Management Company. He joined BEMCO in 2010 as its first Director of Investments. For the eight years prior to joining BEMCO, Werner worked at Ironwood Capital Management, a multi-billion dollar fund of hedge funds, where he most recently served as a managing director, head of the research department, and as a member of the Investment and Management Committees. Werner began his career as an analyst in the real estate investment banking group at Banc of America Securities. Werner graduated with an A.B. in Economics from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania where he graduated as a Palmer Scholar (top 5% of class). He has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
