The Berkeley Endowment Management Company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the UC Berkeley Foundation and is governed by a board of directors who are knowledgeable about the capital markets and committed to the mission and values of UC Berkeley.

Janet McKinley (Chair)
Janet McKinley was formerly chairman of The Income Fund of America, as well as a former director of Capital Research and Management Company (CRMC). McKinley is chair of Oxfam America and serves on the boards of Oxfam International, Smith College, the Deutsche Bank Microfinance Consortium Fund, and The Synapse Market Access Fund. She graduated summa cum laude from Smith College (Phi Beta Kappa) and attended the University of Krakow, Poland, as a Fulbright Scholar. She also attended the New York University Graduate School of Business.
William Ausfahl
“Bill” Ausfahl is a trustee of the UC Berkeley Foundation (UCBF). He served as the chair of the UCBF from July 2007 to June 2009. He is also an independent trustee for the Dodge & Cox family of mutual funds. Ausfahl was formerly group vice president, CFO, and member of the board of directors of the Clorox Company in Oakland. Prior to that, he was CFO for Miles Laboratories and Cutter Laboratories. Ausfahl received his B.A. from UC Berkeley and his M.B.A. from Stanford.
Warren Hellman
Warren Hellman co-founded Hellman & Friedman in 1984 and currently serves as the firm's chairman. He was formerly a director of Eller Media Company, Inc.; Nasdaq Stock Market LLC; and Young & Rubicam Inc. Hellman is currently a director of D.N. & E. Walter & Co., Sugar Bowl Corporation, as well as other organizations. He is also a member of the Haas School of Business advisory board and, in 2005, was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Previously, Hellman was a general partner of Hellman, Ferri Investment Associates, Matrix Management Company and Lehman Brothers. Hellman graduated from UC Berkeley and earned an M.B.A. from Harvard.
Laurance Hoagland
“Laurie” Hoagland is the vice president and CIO of the Hewlett Foundation. Prior to joining the foundation in 2001, he served for nine years as president and CEO of Stanford Management Company. For the 11 years prior to joining Stanford, Hoagland was a co-founder and partner in the investment management firm of Anderson, Hoagland and Company. Hoagland is currently affiliated in various capacities with the Commonfund, the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Caltech, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, and the Kamehameha Schools (Bishop Trust). He was previously affiliated with the Rockefeller Foundation and the Board of Pensions of the Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Stanford University, received an M.A. from Oxford University as a Marshall scholar, and earned an M.B.A. from Harvard.
Colleen McAndrews
Colleen McAndrews is a partner with Bell, McAndrews & Hiltachk, LLP and has practiced political and election law in Southern California since 1989. She is a trustee of UCBF and has served on numerous other non-profit boards. McAndrews is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and received her law degree from the University of California at Los Angeles.
Warren Spieker
“Ned” Spieker is the managing partner of Spieker Realty Investments. Until July 2001, Spieker was chairman of the board of Spieker Properties, Inc., a publicly traded real estate investment trust. Prior to the formation of Spieker Properties in 1993, he was the managing partner of Spieker Partners, a private real estate investment and development firm. From 1970 to 1987 he served as a managing partner and board member of Trammel Crow Company. Spieker received a B.S. from UC Berkeley. He has served as a trustee of the UC Berkeley Foundation and on the advisory board of the Haas School of Business.

Scott Biddy
Scott Biddy is UC Berkeley’s vice chancellor of university relations and president of the UC Berkeley Foundation. He came to Berkeley in 2002 from Georgetown University where he served as associate vice president for university development. Biddy’s career in fundraising and alumni relations followed several years in banking and began at his alma mater, Rice University in Houston. Biddy served as Rice’s associate vice president development/alumni and as interim vice president of university advancement.
Frank Yeary
Frank Yeary is a vice chancellor of UC Berkeley where he advises the chancellor and senior staff on strategic planning and financial issues and is guiding the university’s long-range financial strategy. He retired in 2008 as global head of mergers and acquisitions at Citigroup after nearly 25 years in finance. He has been a trustee of UCBF since 2001. In addition, he is a board member of Intel Corporation and a trustee of the board of WNYC Public Radio. Yeary received his B.A. from UC Berkeley.
